There are different websites that allow you to do crosswords or word searches. Most of them require you to register, but after you register the different programs are free to use and access. I remember in school that many times crosswords and word searches were used as a break to look up words and definitions as either homework or in class activities. I wouldn't use them all the time, but maybe a fun break during the holidays.
One software tool that I have found useful is google earth, which could possibly allow my students and their parents as well as administrators through whom you are getting approval, to view exactly where you are going for field trips to collect leaves and bugs for collections as school projects. This is the software that I will be using.
Internet Safety:
Using common sense as well as some tricks like jerrywhiting13 at gmail.com to avoid any spiders, etc. to spam you have helped a lot. I believe that the upcoming generation of youth really need to not only be taught these principles, but realize that facebook and texting can be very threatening to identity theft and that caution and prudence should be exercised always.
